ABOUT I.A.C.T.

The International Association for Chemical Testing is an organization composed primarily of employees of governmental agencies involved in chemical testing in related traffic safety. They may be local, county, parish, state, national, or international level. The organization (IACT) was formed in March 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, as a result of a symposium sponsored by the Department of Transportation in 1987, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Our organization is made up of both scientific and criminal justice professionals, including researchers, criminalists, forensic scientists, regulatory inspectors, manufacturing representatives, and law enforcement personnel among others. Our membership of approximately 400+ boasts representatives from a majority of the states and several international members. Annual membership fees are $50.00 per member.

We have standing committees to address legislation, training, membership, ethics, federal agency communications, current instrumentation, new equipment and procedures, manufacturers, and publications. We maintain a mailing list for state chemical test programs and manufacturing representatives.

Service positions include four officers: president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer, and a 6-7 member executive board. The list of current officers and executive board members are on the left side of the IACT stationary. To view the current officers and executive board members, click here.

CONFERENCES

We host an annual conference where exchange of  information is accomplished through presentation, panel discussions, manufacturer's exhibits, and of course one-on-one discussions at breaks, over a meal, or a hospitality suite. In addition, we publish three newsletters yearly, and provide numerous other information updates throughout the year. The 2007 conference was held in Wilmington, North Carolina, and the 2008 conference was held Tempe, Arizona. The 2009 conference will be held in Anchorage, Alaska.

Please share this information with others who you think may be interested. IACT is very interested in broadening our membership base in order to provide a more comprehensive format of benefits for our members.
